Cancun in the Winter
Since Cancun has a tropical climate, you can expect the temperature to be consistently pleasant throughout the year, ranging from the high of 84 °F to the low of 79 °F. However, in the winter, you will get some rainfall, and there is a chance for hurricanes to develop.
Although hurricanes can happen during this season, large cyclones are rare, so tourists and locals can avoid being greatly affected. Federal, state and government authorities have measures in place just in case they have to deal with any issues that could arise from this type of emergency.
Holiday Activities in Cancun
Cancun becomes even lovelier around the holidays. Here you will see colorful decorations everywhere, in the form of Christmas trees, lights and piñatas. Houses, parks, shopping center, hotels and streets are full of ornamentation’s.
Here are a few Cancun’s holiday offerings:
- Kukulkan Plaza is an exclusive shopping center, in which the Tourism department utilizes it to showcase Cancun’s City Choir, various singers, as well as present a series of concerts during the month of December.
- Between December 16th and 24th, Las Posadas is in full swing. This is a ceremony reenacting the story of Joseph and Mary, seeking shelter. You will see a candle-lit procession as the actors sing about what they are illustrating. Tourists are encouraged to join in the walk. At the end of this act, the travelers finally find shelter and then prayer is offered as everyone gathers around a nativity scene. Later on, drinks are served to the adults and children play board games.
- If you are lucky during your holiday vacation, you might be asked by the some of the locals to come to their houses for Noche Buena. This holiday is observed on Christmas Eve, where family and friends get together to eat, exchange presents and light fireworks. This comradery often continues past midnight!
- New Year Eve in Cancun is filled with non-stop events. For instance, December 31st, musician Steve Aoki will perform at Mandala Beach, with a repast of cakes and champagne. Fireworks, parties, music and the eating of 12 grapes for each stroke of the clock is a part of everyone experience.

Anyone who has traveled knows that being confined to one spot for a long time can be very uncomfortable. This is especially true of long flight: The seats are cramped, you can’t move around much, then you have to stand in line for what seems like an eternity, and your body pays for it in the end. You arrive at your destination tired, achy, and cranky. This is not a great way to start any trip, especially a vacation. Avoiding travel, or changing the mode of transportation is often not an option, particularly if the travel is job-related. So what can be done to relieve the stress and pain? A professional massage from the experts at Matrix Spa & Massage Cancun can help!
Massage Can Relieve the Discomfort of Travel
Some airports now have massage clinics in the terminal that offer a wide variety of services, which can make it easy to “sample” massage therapy if you’ve never had a massage before. All types of massage relax the muscles of the body and help clear the mind. But there are other benefits as well, including
- Improved circulation
- Helps relieve pinched nerves and “knots”
- Improves health of the skin
- Helps remove toxins from the skin and tissue
- Provides a relaxing and peaceful experience
- Helps relieve jet lag
Massages that focus on the neck, shoulders, legs, and calves are great for relieving jet lag. For the best experience, this should be followed by a type of massage that focuses on the head. Including an essential oil such as lavender helps encourage relaxation. If the clinic’s list of services is not clear about what is covered in any particular type of massage, ask someone. The staff should be willing to help you determine what treatment will best fit your needs.
While a massage at the airport is a great option if you have the time and if the service is available, it can be hard to relax if there is concern about missing a connecting flight. However, there are other options available. Most cities have at least one reputable spa or massage therapy clinic. These are typically in the phone book, or you can ask someone at the hotel where you are staying. The Matrix Spa and Massage in Cancun offers a wide variety of services that will relieve the stress of a long flight
Make Relaxation a Part of the Trip
Why not include a massage in your vacation plans? A day at the spa is a perfect way to start a vacation, since it will help set a relaxing tone for the trip. It is very easy to schedule a session that fits your needs. Most spas offer massages of varying lengths and some offer packages that include extra services such as pedicures or facials. Once you have chosen a spa, find out what they offer. Many spas have websites that list their services, prices, and fees. It is usually a good idea to schedule an appointment in advance, since many spas are very busy. However, if the decision to get a massage is spontaneous, ask the staff at the spa if they take walk in clients.
For travelers visiting Cancun, Matrix Spa and Massage is a great choice. They offer many services at reasonable prices and satisfaction is guaranteed. Discount packages are also available. Matrix Spa and Massage has been in business for over 20 years. Contact us today to learn more, or schedule your appointment, and make the most of your trip to Cancun!

Stress is the root cause of 60 percent of all human illness and disease, according to The American Institute of Stress. It increases the likelihood of having a stroke by 50 percent, of having a heart attack by 25 percent, and of having heart disease by 40 percent. Additionally, stress-related ailments place a financial burden on the United States, totaling $300 billion every year. Yet Americans often flounder when it comes to reducing stress. Though 91 percent of adult Americans agree that massage is an effective means of reducing pain and stress, on average, only 18 percent of adult Americans receive a massage in any given year. Matrix Spa & Massage Cancun is trying to change that.
What is a Migun Thermal Massage Bed?
Matrix Spa & Massage in Cancun is one of a select number of spas that offer massage therapy on highly specialized Massage Energy Thermal Massage System beds, otherwise known as Migun Thermal Massage Beds. Fusing acupuncture, acupressure, massage, heat therapy and chiropractic techniques, the Migun bed utilizes Helium-Jade stones to generate far infrared rays. These instruments interweave spine alignment and stretching to achieve a bounty of health and wellness benefits.
Inspired by Asian and Western approaches to medicine, the Migun Massage Beds use heat to increase blood flow and generate tissue response. The bed’s massage heads compress capillary blood vessels and the autonomic nervous system while providing continual massage to the hamstring muscles along the thighs. It is fully customizable, offering varied temperature settings and seven automatic massage programs that stimulate different pressure points throughout the body. Two sets of five massage heads concentrate on a person’s spine while another two sets of five massage heads serve to alleviate pain in the feet and legs.
Benefits of a Migun Massage Bed
While individual results vary, the average person who uses a Migun bed can expect many benefits. A mere half hour of treatment offers the following benefits:
- Equivalent to an hour of jogging
- Improves hair, nails and skin
- Increases health
- Decreases blood glucose levels
- Lowers blood pressure and cholesterol
- Speeds metabolism
- Uses calories
Acupressure involves finger-like motions that slowly press important healing points along a person’s legs, neck, shoulders, back and head. Blending acupressure with heat application helps improve energy. It releases muscular tension, promotes blood circulation and reduces pain. It also increases your immune system’s ability to fight illness. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Migun Massage Bed for its use in joint pain, arthritis and muscle stiffness.
Jade is thought to improve the health of the thymus, heart and lungs. It helps conduct far infrared rays, which provides deep-penetrating heat that alleviates pain, sciatica and hypertension. It also aids in detoxifying and strengthening the body’s cleansing systems.
The Migun bed is similar to chiropractic work by lifting, adjusting and aligning a person’s body. Used by chiropractors throughout the United States, Migun beds strengthen and stretch the spine by acting as a mechanical traction device.
One of the primary benefits to using the Migun bed is that it stimulates the lymph glands. Massaging the lymph glands is said to help improve their functioning, which in turn helps your immune system protect against foreign substances and illnesses. It is particularly beneficial to people with challenged immune systems and those who are struggling with the impact of aging
By blocking electromagnetic waves, decreasing pain and improving blood flow, the Migun bed helps bring more restful sleep. It encourages deeper REM and NREM sleep, which not only helps people feel more refreshed, but also brings a greater ability to heal.

While Cancun may be known for its beautiful sandy beaches, there’s plenty of other things to do besides sunbathe in and around the city. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ve put together a list of the top five attractions that are a must for any Cancun vacation.
The area surrounding Cancun was once home to a number of Mayan villages, and no Cancun vacation is complete without taking a trip to these nearby historical ruins. Discover the Chichén Itzá archaeological site where visitors can climb the pyramid steps at the Temple of Kukulkan (also known as El Castillo). The coastal town of Tulum is another popular destination. Tulum served as a port for the nearby Coba, a former major city site that is at the heart of a series of impressive stone causeways. However, El Rey is by far the most convenient archeological site to visit, as it is right in the center of the Hotel Zone. While El Rey is smaller than other local ruins, it makes up for it with the convenient location — and a large colony of friendly iguanas!
While many other parts of Mexico can be dangerous for tourists, Cancun is a very safe city with no US travel advisory against the area. This means you can take full advantage of what Cancun has to offer in addition to and at much lower prices than the typical tourist-centric areas. To get started, simply book a taxi for downtown (aka El Centro) from the Hotel Zone. There you’ll find hip bars, authentic Mexican food, live music, and interesting souvenirs.
Selvatica is a unique “adventure park” that’s received international attention as the place for anyone craving outdoor fun. Guests can enjoy exploring the jungle, driving ATVs, flying by on zip lines, taking the plunge with bungee jumping, and strolling above it all with SkyWalk aerial bridges. Those looking for a more relaxing activity can take a dip in one of the onsite cenotes, gorgeous natural limestone swimming holes that dot Selvatica’s grounds. Selvatica also offers transportation to and from local hotels, lockers to stow valuables, and delicious food and beverages.
Underwater Museum of Art
The Mexican Caribbean off the coast features clean, pristine waters with high visibility. Taking advantage of this setting is the MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte), one of the largest underwater sculpture parks in the world. MUSA features over 500 life-sized sculptures by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor depicting the history of the Mayan people, along with newer pieces from other artists. All statues are made from coral-safe materials that promote the recovery of the natural reef ecosystem surrounding Cancun. Guests can experience the museum through guided tours on glass-bottom boats or through diving or snorkeling within the site itself.
Matrix Spa & Massage
The Matrix Spa & Massage is the #1 massage spa in Cancun, beating out some high-quality competition in this resort town. Matrix features a wide variety of different massage styles, including deep tissue massage, sports massage, hot stone massage, chair massage, and pregnancy massage. The spa also offer facials and reflexology services to make sure guests are relaxed from head to toe.
No matter what you’re into, Cancun is an international vacation destination where you’ll never be bored!
